Get Moving for a Cause
Join the Women’s Four Miler Training Program
How will you spend your Saturday mornings this summer? Why not join hundreds of women who gather each week to walk, jog and run to prepare for the Charlottesville Women’s Four Miler -- the largest all-women’s race in Virginia. This year, the Four Miler falls on Sept. 5 and is set to be the biggest event yet as it celebrates its 16th year.
All levels welcome
Regardless of experience or skill, women of all ages are encouraged to sign up for an 11-week training program designed to build strength and endurance for the big race. Participants can attend any or all sessions and get a program manual and a book on women’s fitness with their $20 registration fee.
Run for health
Training with the Four Miler Program is a fun way to commit to a fitness routine. You may even find someone at your skill level to be a great running partner, or at least someone to check in with on your weekly progress. While participating in the race will improve your cardiovascular health, you’ll also feel good knowing that you’re promoting a good cause; proceeds from the race benefit the UVA Breast Care Center.
